ALABAMA REAL ESTATE JOURNAL

ACRE’s Stuart Norton to Speak at ALAres 2020

Stuart Norton, research coordinator for Alabama Center for Real Estate, will give a closing speech on “The State of Alabama Real Estate” at this year’s ALAres conference at The Club in Birmingham, Alabama on February 6.

The theme at ALAres 2020 is “Agents of Change,” and Norton’s data-driven presentation will focus on past trends and future projections regarding Alabama’s residential real estate.

“The presentation will focus mainly on residential market trends in Alabama’s metro areas,” Norton said. “I will start with a 2019 year in review, giving an overview of the markets with the strongest price growth and the year’s fastest selling marketing, setting the stage for the 2020 residential sales forecast.”

“Residential markets across the state will have plenty of momentum in 2020 as 2019 was yet another record year,” Norton shared from his presentation. “Total sales are up about four percent from 2018, which was the best year for sales volume since 2006. Thirteen of the state’s 14 metro areas experienced sales gains in 2019. Statewide economic growth, low unemployment, and interest rates fueled much of the sales growth in 2019, and this is expected to continue in 2020.”

Norton’s presentation will feature more projections and insights on the state of real estate for 2020, analyzing a good bit of Alabama’s metro area markets, including Birmingham, Tuscaloosa and Montgomery.

A graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Norton joined the Alabama Center for Real Estate in December of 2017. He earned his Alabama real estate license in 2013.
