Kathy Deck to Speak at ACREcom 2018

Kathy Deck, Director of Community and Economic Partnerships for Culverhouse College of Commerce at the University of Alabama, will be speaking at ACREcom, the Alabama Center for Real Estate’s eighteenth annual commercial real estate conference and expo on February 9, 2018 at The Club in Birmingham.

Deck’s presentation entitled, “Navigating Retail Disruption: CRE in a World of Changing Supply Chains” will discuss the current state of retail disruption via the continued escalation of e-commerce and its impact on Alabama’s supply chain and economic development, as well as provide insight into how it relates to today’s economy, CRE industry and Alabama’s job creation initiatives.

A veteran economist, Deck has spearheaded a profusion of economic studies revolved around examining how to make regions more complete participants in the knowledge-based economy.

Prior to joining the Culverhouse College, Deck served for ten years as the Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. In providing applied economic research as part of the outreach mission of the Walton College, Deck managed over a hundred studies for dozens of clients including: Arvest Bank Group, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, and the Northwest Arkansas Council.

Before joining Culverhouse’s Center for Business and Economic Research, Deck was the antitrust economist for the Arizona Attorney General.
